A boutique hotel planned for the former Ozanam Inn on Camp Street is set to go forward, with the Architectural Review Committee of the Central Business District recommending its approval. The CBD Historic District Landmarks Commission is set to take up the recommendation at its next meeting on August 6. According to the latest plans filed with the City of New Orleans, renovations would convert the three-story building at 843 Camp St. into a four-story hotel. The plans for the hotel lay out several lux amenities, including a bar, lounge, and courtyard pool. The new hotel would be in keeping with this part of the Warehouse District, which has seen a major glow-up in recent years.

According to earlier reports, developers had planned a pool bar and rooftop restaurant with an open-air terrace and garden. However, those amenities were not featured in the latest plans filed with the city. Developers behind the new hotel bought the property in 2019 and agreed to let Ozanam Inn continue operations rent-free until a new location for the shelter could be found. Delayed by the pandemic, the residents and staff finally moved into a new location in Mid-City in 2021.
