Fans of Asian baked goods rejoice! The popular 85c Bakery Café is bringing its first Louisiana location to 4025 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie this summer. The Taiwan-founded bakery chain is a popular place for Asian Americans to get traditional baked goods, and franchisee Ah Ho Yeoh tells What Now New Orleans that many people in the local Asian community will no longer have to make long treks to get their coveted Asian pastries and the chain’s signature salted coffee.

“For a lot of Asian people, including myself, we drive to Houston to buy baked goods,” he says. “And a lot of local Asian grocery stores, they get their product from Houston and sell it locally. But that way, it’s not fresh because you are getting something that is one or two days old. So I’m sure a lot of people here will be very excited (when 85c opens).”

85c offers a wide range of baked goods from East Asia and beyond, including cakes, breads, pastries, Danish pastries, strudel and more. The bakery café is also known for its array of café drinks, including espresso drinks, boba teas, milk teas, and blended fruit drinks. The chain is especially sought out for its coffees and teas topped with salted whipped cream. There are currently locations in ten other states, including Texas and California.
