Elmwood, it’s time to slide thru as Smalls Sliders officially opens its newest Can on Monday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. local standard time. The newest Can from the industry-disrupting cheeseburger slider brand is located at 845 S Clearview Pkwy, across from the Elmwood Shopping Center.
To celebrate the grand opening, the first 100 guests at the Elmwood Can will receive a pair of Smorange slides. The festivities will also feature a special check presentation and ribbon-cutting ceremony with representatives from the Can’s Smalls Town Hero, Coach Jodee Pulizzano.
Coach Jodee is a celebrated figure in Louisiana high school volleyball and a true inspiration in her community. Over her 32-season career, she has led her teams to six state championships and three runner-up finishes. She was inducted into the Louisiana Volleyball Coaches Association (LVCA) Hall of Fame in 2024 and previously earned a spot in the Italian American Hall of Fame in 2003. She currently serves as head volleyball coach at Archbishop Chapelle High School and as President of the LVCA, where she continues to mentor and empower young athletes across the state.
The Elmwood Can is co-owned by Drew Brees and his two Purdue roommates, Jason Loerzel and Ben Smith, and operated by Melissa Kernaghan, Director of Operations at Boilermaker Ventures, alongside Matt Reed with Brechtel Hospitality. This marks the group’s second Smalls Sliders location, following their first Can in Metairie, which opened in early 2024.
“Opening in Elmwood is a huge moment for our team,” said Melissa Kernaghan, Director of Operations at Boilermaker Ventures in a statement. “We’ve seen such incredible excitement for Smalls Sliders across the New Orleans area, and we’re proud to bring our signature sliders, shakes, and fries to this community. Honoring Coach Jodee as our Smalls Town Hero also makes this opening even more special. She truly represents the heart of Elmwood.”
