When a location of the Ground Pat’i Bar & Grill on Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette closed at the end of 2023, ownership of the location put up a banner that said fans should “stay tuned” about a potential move. It looks like the wait is over, as the Ground Pat’i is set to make a comeback at the original location where the burger chain started back in 1971 at 2303 Johnston St., according to The Acadiana Advocate.

The Kaliste Saloom location of the Ground Pat’i opened in 2003 and at the time, it was the restaurant’s second location. When the lease ran out on that location at the end of 2023, ownership decided not to renew. The former Ground Pat’i has since become a location for The Toasted Yolk Cafe. When the Lafayette location reopens, it wil join the other locations in Gretna, Kenner, and Houma.
