A new cocktail and wine lounge, Charles and Julia, is coming to New Orleans’ Warehouse District, according to a press release. The new cocktail bar is headed for a spring opening on 757 St. Charles Avenue, nestled inside Hotel Perle.
The upcoming bar is owned by Latter Hospitality, the current stewards of Tujague’s, the third-oldest restaurant in New Orleans, first opened in 1914. The restaurant group also opened farm-to-table restaurant The Bower in 2020 and brunch spot Birdy’s Behind The Bower (it’s behind The Bower) in 2021.
The restaurant is located where St. Charles Avenue and Julia Street intersect. The restaurant personifies these streets, imagining a fictional romance between a young couple, meeting in a New Orleans Street car. The ground floor offers diners a homey experience, like you’re attending one of Charles and Julia’s house parties. Chef Marcus Woodham and Chef de Cuisine Ubolratana “Aum” Wipop play host, designing a seasonal menu of small plates.
The restaurant’s second floor offers a cocktail program inspired by the travels of this imaginary couple through Sicily.
“When Hotel Perle approached us in 2025 and asked us to helm the food & beverage program for the hotel, we immediately saw an opportunity to create something that felt deeply personal to New Orleans, a space centered around storytelling, hospitality, and the kind of experiences that invite people to linger and connect,” Mark Latter, founder and CEO of Latter Hospitality, said in the release.
