While the fried chicken competition has been heating up nationally over the past three years, Baton Rouge has long been a cauldron of competition when it comes to cooking the best crispy bird bits. Southern Classic Chicken is a rapidly growing fried chicken chain, and it plans to open two more locations in Baton Rouge, according to The Advocate. One store will open this fall at 5875 Florida Blvd., and another location is being scouted on Plank Road. These two new stores come hot on the heels of a Baton Rouge location set to open imminently.

Southern Classic Chicken representatives say they look to stand out from the competition by focusing on more than crispy, crunchy skin. They claim that a proprietary seasoning blend gives their chicken a deeper flavor profile than the competition. The chain also offers lower prices compared to some rivals.
