Full-time musician Justin Burdette recently took over a snowball stand in Baton Rouge, and he’s looking to bring his entertainment skills to bear with a revamped social media presence. As he prepares to reopen The Sno Shop at 3655 Perkins Rd. this March, Burdette recently told What Now New Orleans that living across the street from a park with a busy snowball stand opened his eyes to the business opportunity.
“Basically, every time I walk outside, I’m like, man, I don’t know why I don’t have a snowball stand because there’s like 1,000 kids in this parking lot across the street at the ball field,” he said.
Citing the stand’s long wait times at The Sno Shop, Burdette said he’s also looking to step up customer service. There will be some new treats on the menu, and Burdette’s band will make an occasional appearance at the stand. He said he hopes to create a stronger brand for The Sno Shop with an eye toward potential expansion.
“The previous owner made pretty dang good money with it, and I feel like pumping social media and providing good service can really turn it up,” he said. “Maybe, the plan would then be to expand with a trailer or something like that.”
