Vimeo is laying off over 130 employees this month, according to a recently filed WARN notice. The filing follows Vimeo’s acquisition by Bending Spoons earlier this year. A union does not represent the affected employees.

Vimeo.com Inc. to Lay Off More Than 100 Employees

New York-based software company Vimeo.com Inc. plans to layoff off 132 employees. The notice, posted on the WARN portal on April 1, indicates that the layoffs will take effect on April 20, 2026.

The WARN notice states that the layoff will affect employees working at 330 W. 34th Street in New York. A union did not represent the employees, so they have no bumping rights. The notice ensured the affected employees had enough time to proceed smoothly with the transition.

Why the Layoffs

The WARN notice does not specify a reason for the layoffs. However, reports indicate the layoffs followed Vimeo’s acquisition by Bending Spoons in January 2026. A January 22, 2026, report from Business Insider said the platform was acquired for $1.38 billion.

Bending Spoons intended to invest in Vimeo’s AI-driven features to strengthen the latter’s position. Following the acquisition, Vimeo was delisted from the Nasdaq and operated as a private company. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Bending Spoons.

Bending Spoons confirmed the layoffs to Business Insider but did not disclose specific figures. According to a report on January 23, 2026, by The Verge, the layoffs were to impact a large portion of the company’s workforce. The WARN filing confirmed this, showing that 132 out of 547 employees will be laid off.

Company Background

Founded in 2004, Vimeo is a video-hosting platform that is headquartered in New York City. It is an innovative video experience platform that enables users to create high-quality video content. It also offers AI-powered tools for creators.

The upcoming layoff marks a change for the company after its acquisition by Bending Spoons. The move highlights a broader organizational restructuring.
