Lincoln Square residents can soon look forward to a delightful new Mediterranean restaurant opening up in their backyard.
ZiZi is a popular Chelsea restaurant known for serving modern and inventive Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant highlights the work of Chef Liran Leibman, a Tel Aviv-based chef who trained under some of the region’s most notable restaurateurs. Inspired by the diverse culinary traditions of Turkey, Spin, Isreal, Tunisia, Morocco, and Greece, Chef Leibman has earned critical acclaim for his unique, stylish take on a long heritage of seasonal, slow food cooking.
Many readers might recognize ZiZi by its original name, “Zizi Limona”, back when it when operated in Williamsburg. Back in 2019 though, owner Sharon Hoota moved his restaurant from Williamsburg to Chelsea, and now the team is getting ready to launch a second Manhattan location. ZiZi’s newest expansion is currently expected to open up at 2012 Broadway, also known as 140 West 69th Street. The location was formerly home to Nanoosh, another Mediterranean restaurant that closed down in 2020. The location has been on market for 32 months and offers an estimated 1,332 square feet of space.
If you’re curious about what to expect in the new space, you can check out the menu on the restaurant’s website. Special highlights include the Mediterranean ceviche plate, striped bass, shawarma, and the overnight lamb. ZiZi also offers a popular brunch menu alongside a wide variety of bottled wines and specialty cocktails.
Hoota and his team are now in the process of applying for a liquor license for the new location and are proposing operating hours of 9:00 AM – 2:00 AM Sunday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM – 3:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. For more information as the story develops, you can follow ZiZi on Instagram.
