Krystal, the Southern fast-food chain known for its sliders, is expanding to the North for the first time. After over nine decades, the brand will make its Northeast debut with a new restaurant opening in Union, New Jersey, on March 2.
Krystal Taps Super Bowl Champion Victor Cruz for NJ Launch
Located at 2200 Route 22 East in Union, the new restaurant’s opening will be hosted by brand partner Victor Cruz. Cruz is a former New York Giants wide receiver, Super Bowl XLVI champion, and sportscaster.
He is introducing Krystal to his home state. “Bringing Krystal to New Jersey isn’t just a business milestone, it’s personal for me,” said Cruz, who grew up in Paterson, New Jersey, just across the river from New York City.
“This is home. I’ve always believed in showing up, working hard, and giving back to the community that shaped me. Now I get to bring a brand I love to the place that raised me, and I can’t wait to share it with friends, neighbors, and a whole new generation of fans,” he added.
Krystal Brings Full Menu and Loyalty Perks to Union
The new location will feature a complete lineup of Krystal’s signature sliders, value-focused favorites, and classic sides. It will also roll out a limited-time menu inspired by Victor Cruz. From the day of the opening, guests can join the Club Krystal, which is a loyalty program with rewards, special perks, and exclusive deals.
“Bringing Krystal to New Jersey reflects the momentum we’ve built and our confidence that Krystal’s food and guest experience resonate well beyond the South,” said Kaitlin Kees, Senior Director of Marketing at Krystal.
“Partnering with Victor — a football legend with deep New Jersey roots and a genuine love for the brand — makes this opening especially meaningful,” Kees added.
Krystal to Host February Hiring Events Ahead of Opening
Krystal will host several local hiring events in February before the opening. The hiring events aim to create new jobs and build a local team to help introduce the brand to the Union community.
Hiring events for all shifts for the Union location will be held between February 11 and 12 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Another event will be held between February 17 and 20, starting from 10 AM to 5 PM.
People applying for the jobs are expected to bring a Social Security number and a valid identity card. Roles are available across restaurant operations, offering opportunities for growth as the brand continues its regional expansion.
With Krystal’s arrival in Union, the opening will be the start of the company’s broader regional ambitions.
