One of New York’s favorite gelato makers is preparing a new Italian restaurant in the heart of the West Village.
Realmuto is the latest project to be announced by acclaimed Sicilian restaurateur Francesco Realmuto, who left Sicily for New York in 1989 to pursue his passions in hospitality. As the founder of Realmuto Hospitality Group, Francesco boasts more than fifteen years of overseeing culinary concepts that celebrate Italian and international cuisine while focusing on the integrity of ingredients and recipes. New Yorkers are likely to recognize his restaurants Filaga Pizzeria and L’Arte Del Gelato. Both operating out of the Chelsea Market, the two concepts have earned wide critical acclaim for their dedication to preserving authentic Italian culinary traditions.
Now, Francesco is getting ready to launch a brand-new brick-and-mortar restaurant for the West Village. Appropriately titled Realmuto, the new restaurant will represent the culmination of Frencesco’s career to date. Realmuto is currently slated to open up on the ground floor of 117 Seventh Avenue, the building that currently houses TMPL Fitness. The location is expected to seat an estimated 57 guests inside at one time, and there are also plans in place to add an additional 28 seats on the sidewalk.
As Francesco’s most ambitious project to date, Realmuto will offer a wide variety of authentic Italian dishes that fans have come to expect from Francesco. According to a sample menu, Realmuto will operate as a multi-function concept, serving as a gelateria, a pasticceria, and a ristorante. The restaurant concept will offer mouthwatering meat and fish entrees as well as pasta dishes like lasagna bolognese and penne al pesto. The bakery concept meanwhile is expected to offer an incredibly robust selection of Italian pastries, such as biscotti, cornetti, cannoli, and so much more. Finally, the gelateria concept will build on Francesco’s success with L’Arte and offer everything from affogati to gelato cakes and milk pops.
Additionally, Realmuto will offer an expertly curated wine collection, and Francesco’s team is now in the process of acquiring a new liquor license for Realmuto. The team is currently proposing operating hours of 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM every day, seven days a week. For more information, you can visit Realmuto’s website, which currently lists the restaurant as “Coming Soon”.
