One of New York’s favorite burger pop-ups will be launching its first-ever full brick-and-mortar space later this Spring.

Gotham Burger Social Club is much more than a restaurant, it’s a movement. The concept began in 2013 when founder Mike Puma sought out a way to bring his love of food and friends together. Working as a financial advisor in New York, Puma’s hunger for burger perfection set him on a quest to find the best burger in New York, and he began crowdsourcing the data and meeting up with his friends to try out all the burgers in the city. Recognizing how many other New Yorkers were resonating with his mission, Mike started to grow his social club and quickly discovered that he had become one of the most trusted sources for people looking to find top-quality burgers in New York.

When the pandemic hit though, burger aficionados across the city were hit with a sudden dearth of their favorite meal, and Mike decided to apply the expertise he had acquired over the years and began grilling burgers of his own. Popping up at numerous locations across the city, GBSC steadily grew its reputation through word-of-mouth, and before too long people were lining up around the block at every popup just to get a taste of the celebrated burgers.

Now, the time has come for GSBC’s official debut in a real New York brick-and-mortar space. Mike has since quit his job in finance and is now pursuing burger bliss full-time. On Tuesday, Mike put up the first signs for GSBC at their new location at 114 Rivington Street. The location was formerly home to a pharmacy that closed a few years ago.

At the moment though, Mike and his team are still operating a popup grill at 77 Rivington Street, so curious readers are encouraged to visit the popup to try out the famous Gotham Smash for themselves. According to the signs, GSBC is aiming to open to the public in Spring 2023. For more information, you can follow Gotham Burger Social Club on Instagram.
