Italian steakhouse Sparrow Italia, part of hospitality group Noble 33’s collection of brands, announced in April that it would be heading to New York City, joining preexisting locations in Miami and London.

Liquor license paperwork filed with Community Board 4 this month indicates that Sparrow Italia will be joining the Chelsea neighborhood at 88 Ninth Avenue in the Maritime Hotel, taking over the former Catch Steak location. Catch Steak closed its New York location in January.

Sparrow Italia features a high-end, Italian-inspired menu with items like grilled octopus, truffle whipped ricotta, Wagyu carpaccio, ahi tuna tartare, Sparrow chop salad, chopped kale caesar salad, prime bone-in ribeye, Wagyu filet, chicken parmesan, salt-baked red snapper and lobster. Plates offered for the table include spaghetti pomodoro, penne Wagyu bolognese, truffle pizza and pistachio pesto. It also offers cocktails, beer and a wine list.

The New York location is expected to have two floors, with one bar on the ground floor and two on the second floor. The seating capacity is still to be determined, according to the filed paperwork.

The proposed hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. daily, with outdoor areas open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with hours extended to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Sparrow Italia is not the first Noble 33 concept to come to New York City. Fellow Noble 33 concept Meduza Mediterrania already has a location in the Meatpacking District.

Noble 33, helmed by Tosh Berman and Mikey Tanha, has other brands in its portfolio, including Toca Madera, which has locations in Scottsdale, Las Vegas and Houston; Casa Madera, which has locations in Toronto and West Hollywood; and a forthcoming brand called 1587 Prime heading to Kansas City.

“At Noble 33, we believe time is best spent dining with friends. In leading the management and expansion of renowned high-energy, fine-dining concepts: Toca Madera, Casa Madera, Sparrow Italia, Meduza Mediterrania and the development of new concepts such as 1587 Prime, we’re committed to curating unforgettable hospitality experiences built around a simple yet timeless tradition — celebrating a meal together,” the website states.

As of now, an exact opening timeline for Sparrow Italia is unclear.
