The Chalong and SOOTHR teams are ramping up toward opening their new anticipated spot UNGLO this fall, bringing Thai BBQ to 35 West 64th St.

“Introducing UNGLO Thai BBQ, where the vibrant flavors of Thailand come alive in a memorable dining experience,” the Instagram page states. “At UNGLO, we draw inspiration from the art of Thai barbecue, which is traditionally grilled on the clay stove known as the ‘unglo,’ from which our name is derived.”

The restaurant is expected to offer an upscale, refined dining experience and is targeting a September opening, according to UNGLO’s Instagram page.

The team is a collaboration between two existing Thai restaurants: Chalong, helmed by chef Nate Lim, and SOOTHR, operated by Sawasdee Hospitality Management. Chalong opened in Hell’s Kitchen in 2022 and specializes in Southern Thai cuisine and seafood. SOOTHR offers a menu focused on family-inspired Thai noodle recipes.

Lim also has another concept, Godunk, in the works in the East Village. That spot will likely open later this year, as well.
