The team behind the city’s top-rated karaoke bar, Baby Grand, is looking to secure a second location at 187 Orchard Street in the Lower East Side.
The team, helmed by Joseph Park and Michael Cortes, is proposing a two-story venue on the commercial ground floor of the 20-story building to house its second outpost. Touted by top New York City-based magazines as the “cutest” and “absolute best karaoke bar in New York,” Baby Grand (which is currently located at 29 West 17th Street in Union Square) boasts a welcoming stage, a few intimate private rooms, and a large event space, as well as a trendy photo booth.
The Lower East Side location is slated to offer nine tables with 52 seats and one bar with six seats on the ground floor and one bar with four seats in the basement with anticipated hours of operation of 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. from Sunday through Wednesday and 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. from Thursday to Saturday.
It boasts a small menu with bar snacks including bagel bites for $8, hot nuts with either cajun or wasabi flavoring for $5, and German-style soft pretzels with a side of honey mustard for $7. The team is also seeking a full liquor license.
The concept also used to have locations in Soho and Greenpoint, which have since shut down, with the Union Square outpost having just relaunched last summer.
