This barbecue restaurant is a top choice for Orange County residents looking to relish grilled meats and chicken items. All of the food items at Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan offer guests Filipino flavors as well. Menu highlights include BBQ pork skewers, salmon teriyaki meal, bibingkinitan, and egg drop soup.
The Orange County-based food facility failed to present ideal results in an inspection by the Orange County Health Care Agency. Based on the nature of violations, food inspectors ordered the barbecue restaurant to suspend operations pending corrective action.
Inspection Findings at Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan
Inspectors from the Orange County Health Care Agency noted multiple violations in their inspection report for Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan. The barbecue facility’s Food Safety Certification, which expired in March, was not renewed.
Employees at Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan were not following proper handwashing procedures. They were using clean kitchen equipment after handling raw meat without washing their hands or wearing gloves. Additionally, food inspectors found that they did not wash their hands for the required 30 seconds.
The report by the Orange County Health Care Agency then highlighted the issue of live cockroaches around Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan’s door gaskets. Cockroach activity was also observed on the cold-top cooler and ready-to-eat food items.
Food inspectors further reported that a sauce container was stored directly on the floor in the barbecue establishment’s storage room. They added in the inspection report that grease and debris were observed between the equipment at the cook’s line and the bottom panels inside the coolers.
The inspection report stated that test strips for the chlorine sanitizer were not available at Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan. Drain stoppers were missing at the 3-compartment sink. Furthermore, soap and paper towels were placed at the same 3-compartment sink instead of a designated handwashing sink.
The report further noted that debris was found at Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan’s area beneath the 3-door cold-top cooler and kitchen equipment at the cook’s line.
Based on the violations noted by the Orange County Health Care Agency, the barbecue food facility took corrective actions. However, some issues, including the presence of cockroaches, continue to be an issue at Tony’s Barbecue & Bibingkinitan. The Orange County eatery must work on them before a follow-up takes place.
