This health-conscious cafe has been serving various Asian dishes. However, the recent health inspection observed several violations in the restaurant. Some of these violations have been listed below:

  • No hot water was available in the dishwashing sink, which is a major violation. The PIC stated that the water heater had to be replaced, which is why there was no hot water.
  • Propping open doors can allow pests such as rodents to enter.
  • The ceiling tile above the mop sink was missing and was asked to be replaced.

Known for the friendly staff, great prices, and mouthwatering food, Toyo Sushi & Roll has been a great place to try some Japanese delicacies. However, a recent health inspection discovered numerous health code violations, which resulted in the closure of the restaurant. Some of these violations are listed below:

  • The paper towel dispenser near the back-handwashing sink needs to be repaired.
  • TCS foods were not stored at the right temperatures. These were cold, potentially hazardous foods that had to be stored under 41°F, but were stored at and above 50°F.
  • The sanitizer concentration for the 3-compartment sink was below standards.
  • Dishes with old food debris were observed under the sushi bar.
  • Live and dead cockroaches were found in various areas across the restaurant.
  • Several unlabeled food containers with unclear contents were found in storage.
  • Inspectors also found food debris accumulation in various areas around the restaurant, including shelves, fryer cabinets, and more.
  • Inspectors observed plastic wrap and cardboard lining the equipment surfaces.
  • Several gaps were also found that need to be addressed to keep the facility vermin-proof.

Follow-Up Inspection

Reinspection will be conducted upon request from the restaurants. A list of corrective measures to be taken is also mentioned in the report, which needs to be taken care of before requesting a reinspection. The restaurants can restart operations once they pass the reinspection. Meanwhile, the management of the two restaurants can request a hearing within the next 15 days to show why their permit suspension is not warranted.
