Known for its creme brulee and smoothies, the bubble tea shop was closed following health code violations. The Orange County Health Care Agency’s detailed inspection report lists the violations at Yoyo Tea Shoppe.

The on-site health inspector observed bowls in the handwashing sink at Yoyo Tea Shoppe. Inspectors noted the facility lacked a 3-compartment sink for approved cleaning and sanitizing. No approved means of cleaning and sanitizing were available in the facility.

Grime and residue accumulation were found on the deflector panel inside the ice machine. Inspectors also reported the use of unapproved pesticides. Chlorine sanitizer test strips were unavailable at the Irvine facility during the inspection.

The handles of scoops were observed to be in contact with sugar in the bulk storage containers in the back prep area. Grime and residue were seen on the floor in and around the floor sink below the food prep sink. A handwashing reminder sign was missing from the handwashing sink in Yoyo Tea Shoppe’s rear prep area.

The inspection report instructs the owners to contact the Orange County Health Care Agency once the 3-compartment sink is installed. On being assured of the cleaning and sanitation corrections, the agency can reinstate the health permit of the bubble tea shop.
