In one of its routine inspections on November 4, the Orange County Health Care Agency cited Soma Tea and Mocktail for health violations. The health inspectors shared further details in their report for the bubble tea establishment, including its temporary closure and follow-up inspection.

This Irvine-based establishment serves a variety of beverages, including Tri Blend Signature Milk Tea, Lavender milk tea with oat milk, Passion Fruit High Mountain Tea, and Matcha milk tea with boba. The Orange County Health Care Agency noted the following violations at Soma Tea and Mocktail:
- According to the inspection report, not all the food handlers at the Irvine facility possessed a California Food Handler Card.
- The report highlighted that hot water was not available throughout the bubble tea establishment.
- A Raid spray can was stored under the front service counter of Soma Tea and Mocktail.
- The inspection report stated that a probe thermometer was not available for use during the routine inspection at the bubble tea facility.
- The report noted that employee belongings were stored alongside food and equipment, mostly in the reach-in cooler and on the front prep table

Follow-Up Inspection

As given in the inspection report, Soma Tea and Mocktail’s permit was temporarily suspended after the inspection on Tuesday. This was due to different violations of the California Health and Safety Code. Based on the instructions by the health department, the Irvine facility shall be closed until corrective measures are taken.
Soma Tea and Mocktail has 15 calendar days after the latest notice to request a hearing. By then, it should correct the violations, particularly regarding the hot water supply.
