The Meat Cellar Market and Steakhouse — Chef Anthony and Sara Villegas’ first culinary breakthrough hailing from Claremont, CA — will open a second outpost this fall at Dan Almquist’s incoming Rodeo at River Street marketplace.
The River Street Marketplace will be an off-shoot of Almquist’s two other food halls, Rodeo 39 in Stanton and Rodeo X in Ontario Ranch. The brand will also soon debut Rodeo 72 in Whittier.
“River Street Marketplace is a 60,000-sqft community destination in the heart of San Juan Capistrano,” explains the concept’s website. “Built in the Los Rios district, the oldest neighborhood in California, the marketplace features elevated agrarian architecture, broken up into smaller buildings designed around a central green.”
The space will feature modern dining concepts like Bred Hot Chicken and Hudson’s Cookies, curated retail, local art, and a full bar and brewery with shared communal tables for outdoor dining.
As for The Meat Cellar, the surf & turf concept boasts “the highest quality meat and seafood the world has to offer,” serving an array of carefully crafted small plates like roasted bone barrow and jumbo prawns, “greens n things,” classics like filet mignon and Sapphire Salmon, and massive tomahawks.
TMC also has an in-house butcher that slices up antibiotic-free and all-natural top-tier cuts.
