Brazilian-born açaí bowl and smoothie concept, Oakberry, is set to open a new outpost near Pacific City later this spring, as the company continues to scout more locations throughout Orange County, according to area developer Joao Paulo Bianchini.

“We are really excited to serve our delicious all-natural açaí bowls to a community that is so important for the Orange County development, and also who searches more and more for a healthy lifestyle,” Bianchini tells What Now Orange County, adding, “We hope to expand in the area soon and we are currently looking for new locations in OC.”

Despite being founded in 2016 and having a footprint of some 600 locations spread across more than 30 countries, Oakberry is relatively new to the US market. In fact, last month the company opened its flagship cafe on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach, marking the first of more than a dozen planned US openings that should culminate in around 35 stores by the end of the year, according to a press release

At the time of the opening, Oakberry CEO and founder Georgios Frangulis said, “This is an exciting time for Oakberry and our new location exemplifies our commitment to bringing the best, freshest açaí experience to our customers as we continue to open more locations throughout the United States.”

Frangulis went on to add, “The first time I had the idea to create Oakberry, I was in Venice Beach and since then, açaí has grown rapidly in popularity and we’ve opened 600 locations. To be back here six years later on the very street where Oakberry was conceived – opening a storefront and serving the community our delicious bowls and smoothies – is an incredibly special moment.”

Oakberry has a decidedly humble menu that includes customizable açaí-based bowls and smoothies, both of which can be made with unlimited toppings such as granola, peanuts, honey, cacao nibs, and goji berries, as well as a vegan whey protein, matcha, and more.
