Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is about to open its first Orange County store. The chain was founded in 1989 on the Big Island of Hawaii, where the company sold American-grown, premium Hawaiian coffee from Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Moloka’i, Kona and Ka’u.

Thanks to Hawaii’s many tourists, Bad Ass Coffee gained even more popularity on the mainland and in 1995, B.J. Bilanzich opened stores in Utah with her husband. Eventually, they purchased the company and began franchising across the nation.

Tom Borba Sr., along with sons Eric, Brian and Tom Jr., are the owners and operators of the first Orange County location, which will be at 17243 17th St. in Tustin. The Borbas signed a multi-unit deal that will see even more Bad Ass Coffee stores cropping up throughout Orange County and the Inland Empire, The Orange County Register reports. Their Tustin store is scheduled to open in October.
