Costa Mesa is set to welcome a fresh twist on Japanese cuisine with the upcoming opening of Sandoitchi. This will be the brand’s second brick-and-mortar location, showing that the concept’s popularity is growing all over the country. City records show it will be located at 562 W. 19th St.

A concept that’s originally from Dallas, locals might recognize the name because Sandoitchi has done national pop-ups all over the US in the last few years. It was founded in 2020 during the pandemic, traveling and quickly gaining a devoted following nationally. It has even had appearances at high-profile events such as Coachella and the State Fair of Texas.

“Though we’re based in Texas, Orange County has always felt like a second home for Sandoitchi since we’ve been part of so many events across Southern California over the past several years. Having a permanent flagship space here is truly a dream come true, and we’re excited to join and contribute to the thriving, diverse, and dynamic food scene in OC,” founder Keith Tran told What Now OC.

This new Costa Mesa spot will be a 1,800-square-foot space, operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Orange County Health Department marked that multiple plan reviews were completed, and the organization gave the business the authority to construct last week. It’s expected to open in Q1 2026.
