Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza will be getting a new dining destination in the new year. According to owner John Parlet, Calo Kitchen + Tequila hopes to open its doors in April of the new year.
This will be the third location for Parlet and chef Clemente Heredia’s Calo concept, with others already operating in El Segundo and Laguna Niguel. The menu at Calo Kitchhen + Tequila puts a modern spin on many Mexican classics, look for a variety of shareable starters like quacamole, taquitos, and nachos, along with classic combination platters, and some house signature entrees, such as salmon asado.
Calo doesn’t skimp on the bar program either. On the drink side, lookout for an extensive selection beer and wine, but the real star of the show is the deep tequila list that is sure to satisfy any aficionado. Calo puts the offerings to good use, too, with a full selection of margaritas highlighting different tequila styles and flavor combinations.
This will be a big week for South Coast Plaza on What Now Orange, as Calo is one of a few new restaurants coming to arguably the premier shopping and dining destination in the region. A Costa Mesa stalwart since the ’80s, South Coast Plaza houses over 250 retailers and 30 restaurants, featuring many world famous luxury brands.
