A well-known family business specializing in churros is making big moves by moving into a brick-and-mortar space in Santa Ana. The new storefront for Don Churros Gomez will be at 215 W 4th St, according to Living Mi Vida Loca.

While the plans have been in motion since last year, the current status of the project is unknown. Earlier this year, the business told eager patrons that “the building went under change of use so it’s a process”. Posts from May show work ongoing at the site. Health Care Agency records show documents were filed with the county in August.

The vegan churro company has a big following in SoCal, known for its three-generation-old family recipe dating back to Mexico in 1969. Its products are 100% vegan, free of dairy and eggs, cholesterol, trans fat, and saturated fat, and they also serve plant-based ice cream and imported cajeta.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy Don Churros Gomez at its food truck spot, 1440 S Anaheim Blvd. The concept is typically open in the evenings on Thursdays through Sundays, with hours varying by day.
