A new concept is moving into Palm Desert. According to Orr Builders, the site at 44850 San Pablo Avenue is set to be transformed into a shop called Desert Kid Coffee, which will be run by a Coachella Valley native.
The business will debut at the end of the year, its co-founder Katie Reed told What Now OC. A construction fence just went up at the property this week, and contracting work is slated to conclude by mid-November. Currently, the team is projecting an opening date in December.
LoopNet reports that the 5,402-square-foot space was built in 1955 and leased by Wilson Meade Commercial Real Estate. It has 10 dedicated parking spots and is in the midst of San Pablo Avenue’s retail corridor, which just received an $8.5 million investment.
Palm Desert is Reed’s hometown; she started out in the workforce at the local Outback Steakhouse and Mikado Sushi Japanese Restaurant. After spending over a decade building an impressive career in the tech and healthcare sectors, she has returned to the desert and is excited for her next venture.
