The Laguna Beach Planning Commission voted to approve a proposal to convert a vacant office building space at 500 Broadway into “a coffee crafthouse café with retail sales, including the sale of natural wines for consumption off the premises,” Stu News Laguna first reported.

Play Coffee is the company who submitted the application to the planning commission with renderings that show the space transformed into a fresh and modern counter-service cafe with outdoor patio seating. Play Coffee is equal parts a multi-roaster, coffee bar and destination cafe known for the repurposed shipping containers that it calls home in downtown Fullerton.

Play Coffee sources their beans from their favorite roasters “based on a philosophy where quality, traceability, innovation and social responsibility is the main focus,” according to their website. The espresso bar serves up all your usual caffeinated suspects, as well as a few unique creations such as the Cascara Punch and Volcano Latte.
