It looks like Downtown Indio is getting a new taphouse concept.

According to state records, on August 3, the same owner of Palm Desert’s Little Bar applied for a liquor license at the site where The Design Collection and the Indio Police Oldtowne Storefront formerly stood. The permit, which is still pending approval, would allow for the sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits, and requires the licensee to “make actual and substantial sales of meals for consumption on the premises.”

The liquor license application listed the primary owner as MILES DTI LLC. Records from Riverside County indicate that a tax lien was released to MILES DTI LLC this month, and in a Statement of Information filed with the California Secretary of State, MILES DTI LLC’s business type is listed as a “Developer / Restauranter.”

Notably, on Indio’s Economic Development website, a map outlining downtown’s redevelopment plans lists an “Indio Taphouse” on Miles Ave.

While owner Skip Paige could not immediately be reached for comment, all signs are pointing towards a new eatery and watering hole for Indio.

Paige is the perfect person to boost Downtown Indio’s revitalization efforts. A former executive for Goldenvoice, Paige has over twenty years in the music business and was instrumental in the launch of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals. After retiring in November 2017, he opened Little Bar in Palm Desert, outfitted with his personal collection of music memorabilia, sports tickets and backstage passes which he collected over the span of more than 30 years.

Perhaps the Indio Taphouse will feature more of Paige’s personal collection?
