Einstein Bros. Bagels is preparing to plant roots in San Clemente, part of a growing trend of new SoCal stores planned. According to 926OC, the chain is opening a shop at 628 Camino De Los Mares in the Plaza by the Sea.

This upcoming location is listed as “opening soon” on the brand’s website. Hours of operation haven’t been posted yet, but the page confirms the concept will offer catering and takeout services. There has not been a timeline provided for opening.

Now boasting 700+ locations nationwide, Einstein Bros. Bagels has been rolling out refreshed store designs and increasing its presence in suburban corridors. It serves its signature bagels baked fresh daily, alongside reduced-fat shmears, hot breakfast sandwiches, and a full range of coffee drinks, from hot and iced to cold brew and espresso.

The bagel store will be taking over the former Café Rio space, near the Stater Bros. market. Yelp listings show that the business closed by June of this year. It’s one of many outposts the Mexican chain has shuttered in SoCal recently, joining shuttered Café Rios Eastvale, Menifee, Oxnard, San Diego, and Victorville.
