Upscale organic grocer Erewhon is stirring speculation with more signs of a Newport Beach location on the horizon, though the company has yet to issue a formal announcement. A local shared that the company confirmed to them on Instagram that a store will be coming to the beachside town.

On Reddit, a user shared screenshots of direct messages with Erewhon’s official Instagram account, in which the company confirmed a Newport Beach location would follow the upcoming Manhattan Beach store. That outlet is expected to open this year, along with West Hollywood and Glendale, LA Times writes.

Other users shared that they have also heard of plans for the grocer will be in Newport, some saying Erewhon employees at other locations confirmed so. But rumors about its expected location are conflicting, with some saying it will take over for Ralphs at Westcliff Plaza on 17th Street, while others speculate it could open in Lido Village.

Founded in 1966 in Boston, Erewhon has grown into a cultural phenomenon with over a dozen locations across Southern California. Known for its eye-popping prices and celebrity collabs, the grocery chain offers memberships that cost shoppers up to $200 annually, and has a cafe and coffee bar inside.
