Trejo’s Mexican Food, a family-owned joint based in Huntington Beach, is working to grow the brand’s presence in Orange County after being a staple for almost 30 years. City documents list the restaurant as a “new business” that is joining the Cypress community at 6860 Katella Avenue.

The eatery has been serving authentic Latin-inspired cuisine since 1998, when it opened on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. This new location will be in the Cypress Plaza Shopping Center. Maps show that the strip mall previously housed a different Mexican restaurant called Amarito’s.

Any details about operations for the Cypress location have not been released, and the company did not respond to requests. However, the original location Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

A peek at the menu at Trejo’s shows classics like caldos, tortas, combo plates, bowls, quesadillas, sopes, seafood, and breakfast burritos. The eatery’s website mentions that it offers dine-in service, online ordering, and catering.
