Santa Ana will be getting a new destination for smash burgers when Hammer Burger comes to town. Founder Kevin Hammons has filed for an alcohol license to open at 313 N Bush St sometime in the coming months.

If the name Hammer Burger rings a bell, that’s because the concept already has been a major hit, albeit in a slightly different iterations. What began as a backyard operation, quickly morphed into an Orange County brewery pop-up mainstay, and then, most recently, a food truck, which has become a burger staple in O.C.

It’s no surprise Hammons started selling his smash burgers at breweries either, as he was previously the Head Brewer at Gunhouse Ales, just over in Costa Mesa.

While there might be some menu expansions for the brick and mortar, diners can definitely expect to see the Hammer Burger favorites from the truck as well. There, the team offers three burger options–the classic smash, the spicy smash with hot sauce and chipotle mayo, and the vegan smash–all available as singles doubles or triples. They also have house cut fries with a wide selection of dipping sauces.
