Korea-based fried chicken concept, bb.q chicken, is set to open another Orange County outpost at 1781 Newport Blvd in Costa Mesa, according to leasing details obtained by What Now Orange County.

The franchisee of this location declined to comment for this story.

Bb.q chicken, which stands for “best of the best quality,” was founded in Seoul in 1995, by Yoon Hong-guen, who was determined to “serve great-tasting, high-quality Korean fried chicken to the world.” In order to make that dream a reality, Hong-guen developed recipes that draw on Korean tradition as well as “modern research and development” from the company’s “Chicken University,” as detailed on its website

The result is a humble menu of 13 signature fried chicken favorites such as the Galbi, a sweet, savory, and smoky blend with green onion and sesame seed garnish, the Gangnam Style, featuring a black pepper sauce balanced by garlic and onions, and the brand’s spiciest option, ominously dubbed Wings of Fire.

Meanwhile, there’s also a line-up of Korean bowls including Kimchi Fried Rice and a street food favorite, the Ddeok-Bokki, with various sides to boot.

Bb.q chicken currently has a strong presence in Orange County, with plenty of locations from Newport Beach up to Chino, and Aliso Viejo to Anaheim.
