Kabana will be the latest culinary venture from Michelin-recognized chef Imran “Ali” Mookhi, the OC Register reports. A brand representative confirmed to What Now Media that the business is moving into 6041 Bolsa Ave in Huntington Beach.
The restaurant will focus on Desi cuisine, highlighting regional comfort foods from Pakistan while also offering hookah service, chai, and nonalcoholic drinks. It is expected to open in the late summer or early fall, the rep said. Currently, the business is finalizing plans with the city of Huntington Beach.
“Kabana offers a truly unique experience, seamlessly blending cutting-edge dining with traditional Desi culture in one vibrant concept. We’re proud to serve authentic Desi comfort food alongside chai, a cherished staple in Desi regions, as well as a halal non-alcoholic bar and even hookah offerings. Our mission is to bring something fresh and exciting to the community while staying true to the rich flavors and timeless traditions of Desi culture,” Chef Mookhi told What Now OC.
This marks Mookhi’s fourth restaurant, following the success of Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen in Fullerton, SHOR Bazaar in Hawaiian Gardens, and Mint in Laguna Hills. He recently reopened Mint after a closure in 2016 and subsequent fire, Canvas Rebel writes.
