A new dining venue will be debuting in Palm Springs as part of a new luxury resort development, according to the Palm Springs Post. The yet-to-be-named restaurant will be one of the amenities on the property, which is the site of a former Days Inn — 1983 N Palm Canyon Dr.
Not many details have been released about what the concept will be. Documents filed with the city show it will be built on the northeast corner of the property, taking the place of the former lobby, which will be moved to where Rick’s Restaurant currently is. Several structures on the 4.23-acre site will be demolished.
The plans are now moving forward after city board approval; the HSPB voted 5-1 in favor of allowing the project to proceed after a site visit. It’s estimated that construction will start in the fall of this year. O2 Architecture is listed as a partner on the project.
Spot On Ventures LLC is leading the $350 million project, which is one of many changes the site has seen in its 90-year history. Originally built in 1936 as the Cahuilla Indian Village, it changed into the Hotel Cahuilla, the Palm Springs Pueblo, the Palm Springs Sands Hotel, Quality Inn, Rodeway Inn, Palm Court Inn, and Palm Springs Language Institute, before becoming a Days Inn.
