Osen Urban Table, a new Japanese-inspired dining concept from the team behind Izakaya Osen, is getting ready to open in Irvine at The Canopy at Great Park near the Bosque Trail.
The company’s new location will be part of the 12-acre retail development being built by Almquist, which will feature about 90,000 square feet of retail space, according to the Orange County Business Journal. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the center is expected to open in late 2026 following its groundbreaking in April 2024. Customers can expect a modern Japanese dining experience rooted in the style and influence of Izakaya Osen.
Osen Urban Table joins a growing list of confirmed tenants at the development, including In-N-Out Burger, Philz Coffee, Chicha San Chen, and H&H Bagels, which will mark its first Orange County location. The project will ultimately feature 13 tenants, creating a mix of dining and retail options. T&T Supermarket will serve as the anchor tenant, occupying a 34,000-square-foot space within the center.
The Canopy at Great Park is part of the broader Great Park development, where roughly 500 acres have already been completed, and nearly 1,000 acres remain under construction or in planning. The project continues to bring new retail and dining options to the area as residential growth expands nearby.
Osen Urban Table builds on the foundation established by Izakaya Osen, which operates locations in Silver Lake and Irvine and focuses on Japanese cuisine inspired by traditional izakaya culture. The concept typically blends classic techniques with more modern interpretations, offering a range of small plates and seafood-driven dishes. Its approach centers on creating a casual but refined dining experience.
While specific menu details for Osen Urban Table have not yet been released, the brand is expected to carry over elements such as fresh sushi, sashimi, and Japanese fusion dishes. Izakaya Osen is known for its focus on high-quality ingredients and attention to preparation, which will likely influence the new concept. The addition of Osen Urban Table further strengthens the dining lineup planned for The Canopy at Great Park.
