Palm Desert eatery Papa Dan’s Pizza and Pasta has suffered a major blow recently when a fire destroyed the establishment. The restaurant’s property, located at 73131 Country Club Dr., is not able to be saved.

However, the community staple will be back, the Desert Sun reports. Owners Ira Mosley and his partner Dan will move forward from the tragedy and return in another space in the Plaza de Monterey shopping center.

In the early hours of April 14, flames tore through a property at the center, affecting Papa Dan’s Pizza and Pasta and three other businesses. The venue has served the desert community delicious Italian fare in a family-friendly atmosphere for over four decades at that space.

The owners are currently working through insurance issues but look forward to putting the event behind them once they can reopen. Fundraising efforts have been launched to aid in the restoration process, and local residents have so far donated more than $7,000 to the cause.
