A mountain lodge in Idyllwild with a storied history is adding a high-end steakhouse. The Creekstone, located at 54950 Pine Crest Ave., filed for a tenant improvement permit last month, records show.

The description of the work being done states that there will be a 1,495-square-foot restaurant, with renovations being made to existing restrooms, the bar and lounge area, and other spaces on the property to accommodate adding the eatery.

An article from Palm Springs Life teased that the venue will be a steakhouse called The Red Door. The piece explored the transformation of the hotel since Tim and Amy Brinkman purchased it in 2020 and turned it into a modern rustic retreat.

The nine-room lodge previously had a DIY kitchen that guests could use to prepare their own meals, and offered coffee, tea, and free beer on tap. The property is in a picturesque location close to the town’s sites and hiking trails, and was featured in the 1961 Elvis movie “Kid Galahad”.
