A new Sonic Drive-In is slated to break ground in Perris, according to the website for the franchisee who will operate it. Local multi-unit ownership group Socal Drive-Ins LLC is working to bring the QSR chain to a plot at 3933 Ramona Expressway, it confirmed to What Now OC.

Family members Clinton, Devon, and Richard Wesselink operate the franchise group under Coast to Coast Commercial. Clinton told the publication that construction is expected to begin in August 2025, with an opening planned for January 2026. The new Sonic will employ approximately 75 people and will feature a drive-thru, covered outdoor patio seating, and Sonic’s signature carhop stall service.

It’s to be located within the Perris Gateway Commerce Center, a mixed-use development project that started in early 2024, according to a city press release. A Starbucks just opened there, and the complex will also house a Taco Bell and Panda Express once complete.

Socal Drive-Ins currently operates 13 other Sonic locations across Southern California, two of which opened last year in Ontario and Santa Fe Springs. It also has another that is currently in development in San Bernardino, which What Now OC covered.

“We are very excited to bring Sonic Drive-In to both San Bernardino and Perris,” said Richard Wesselink. “We feel that these locations are well-positioned, allowing for us to bring Sonic’s huge menu of burgers, hot dogs, shakes, and slushes to the community in a variety of ordering methods—from traditional drive-through to our unique stall service by Carhop!”
