A fun new concept is in the works in Brea: a speakeasy hidden inside a beauty salon. According to CEQA records, Koy Restaurant & Bar will be covertly opening within Grand Salon & Spa, at 441 South Associated Road, Unit B.
The venue will occupy a 697-square-foot space within the business. Owners have applied for a Type 47 license from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to serve beer, wine, and distilled spirits on-site.
Koy will blend modern aesthetics with Prohibition-era influences, offering a 32-seat dining area, a four-seat bar, and a curated menu, Planning Commission documents state. Operating hours are planned from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Approval for a Conditional Use Permit was granted a few months ago.
Brea Plaza, which houses Grand Salon & Spa and the future speakeasy, has other popular tenants including Total Wine & More, Mother’s Market, DSW, The Grand, and the upcoming Barnes & Noble.
