Tustin will be getting a new taco shop when Taco Mesita comes to town. According to permits filed with the city, the team is building out at 765 El Camino Real and appear to have plans to open sometime in the new year.
The concept, from owner Ivan Calderon, will be, as the name suggests, a faster, smaller sibling to his Taco Mesa restaurants. Taco Mesa currently operates locations in Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, and Ladera Ranch. Calderon is also behind Tortilla Organica in Orange.
While Taco Mesa serves an expansive slate of fresh Mexican favorites, with tacos, tortas, burritos, plates, and even a full selection of breakfast options on the bill of fare, Taco Mesita, which will occupy the former space of another quick service Mexican restaurant, will likely sport a leaner, more speed friendly menu.
Tacos Mesita will be joining a bevy of restaurants located near the busy intersection of Camino Real and Newport Ave, just off Highway 5. What Now Orange County will continue to report as more details emerge about this upcoming opening.
