Texas Roadhouse is making moves to broaden its presence in Orange County, with apparent plans to open a location in Laguna Hills, according to 926OC. The popular restaurant chain filed records with the county listing 24301 Avenida de la Carlota as a site of interest.

That property appears to be the old El Torito, which closed in 2023, posts show. It’s a 9,500-square-foot space within the Oakbrook Village shopping center, which is anchored by major retailers like Trader Joe’s, REI, Road Runner Sports, See’s Candy, and Woody’s Diner.

Recently, the brand applied for an on-sale general eating place license for that address. It is currently listed as pending, and no additional permits have been submitted. Texas Roadhouse told What Now CO they “have no plans that we can confirm.”

Founded in 1993 in Indiana, Texas Roadhouse has grown to have a footprint of more than 600 restaurants across the nation. The chain reportedly sees annual revenues of over $5 billion, with each location averaging thousands of patrons per week.
