Cora’s Island Café, owned by the couple Cora and Alan Mazaudon, has been catering out of their food truck since 2018. However, they plan to open at 135 N Grove Street, in the historic district of Merritt Island.

During a phone interview with What Now, Alan Mazaudon shared that they hope to expand their catering to include hosting brunch and special dinners in the new building. However, it will operate by reservation only.

They are in the midst of completing the construction, and Mazaudon hopes to have the doors open in “a couple of months.”

Cora Mazaudon, the chef, prepares international cuisine with an emphasis on home style cooking. Previously, without a brick and mortar location, she has specialized in delivering to clients, but now she will have the opportunity to host guests in their building.

Recent offerings, according to their Facebook page, have been “Chicken piccata with artichokes, served on a bed of pasta” and “Mediterranean sweet potato stew.”

Alan Mazaudon commented on Monday about Cora’s cooking: “What ever she does, it is excellent. There is no question about it.”

A recent plan review filed with the state is still “in process.”
