A legendary restaurant and bar, Sloppy Joe’s, which dates back to 1933, plans to open a new location in ICON Park in Orlando, on 8371 International Dr.

“The official beginning of Sloppy Joe’s Bar, the famous and infamous Key West saloon, was December 5, 1933–the day Prohibition was repealed.” Since then the bar has changed names and locations before becoming todays Sloppy Joe’s visited by millions of visitors.

Back in the ’30s, the legendary saloon was visited by the bastion of free-thinkers and artists who made Key West their home. Most famously, Ernest Hemingway visited the saloon and encouraged the owner, Joe Russell, to change the bar’s name to “Sloppy Joe’s.”

Apart from the menu that “includes American Caribbean with bar favorites such as burgers, sandwiches and salads,” Sloppy Joe’s also hosts an annual Papa Look-Alike Contest where Hemingway lookalikes compete from across the country.
