Topgolf, the driving range and entertainment facility, is planning to open a new facility in Brevard County.
The $28 million Topgolf complex will call a space near The Avenue in Viera home in the near future. According to Florida Today, the project will be 20 percent larger than anticipated, and will feature its famed hitting bays, a full-service restaurant and bar, a gift shop, private event rooms, and a nine-hole mini golf course. The project, along with its unique requirements such as stadium lighting and high safety netting, has been approved by the Brevard City Commission. Currently, there is no completion timeline.
Topgolf is a U.K. transplant, founded in 2000 by brothers Steve and Dave Joliffe. The siblings has an idea to make driving ranges more fun and engaging. The retrofitted golf balls with microchips to track accuracy and distance, and changed the game. The first Topgolf opened in the U.S. in 2005 in Virginia. The concept slowly gained traction, and finally grew in popularity when the complex changed its strategy from a training venue for golfers to an entertainment complex. Now, Topgolf is seen as the ultimate gathering spot for friends or a great date night. People love it as an all-in-one destination that combines sport, games, food, and drink.
