When Bret daCosta joked with his son about making “buckets of money” by selling “buckets of spaghetti,” he had no idea the simple idea would soon explode into a rapidly-growing company.
As part of an upcoming 30 locations being added to the chain, licensee Ron Hansen is manning the fort for the upcoming storefront at 3320 W Southern Avenue Suite 174.
When Hansen spoke with What Now Phoenix on Thursday, he said that construction and remodeling was going smoothly, as the unit was previously a restaurant space and needed little work.
As for the success of By the Bucket, daCosta accredits that to the affordability. The Family Bucket — or “Famiglia” — comes with a 1.5 lb bucket of spaghetti with half a loaf of garlic bread to feed a family of five for $14.95.
Not to worry if you only want a small bucket — or “Bambino” — for yourself. You can get 1/2 lb of spaghetti with three pieces of garlic bread for $6.95, or have a hand at the meatball sub.
While there’s currently no official opening date for the location coming to 3320 W Southern Avenue, Hansen said he was hopeful to see the store ready to go by the end of October 2021.
