The State of Arizona recently issued a liquor license to a new restaurant named Call Her Martina. The “barra + cocina” will debut at the Scottsdale Waterfront in Suite 165 at 7135 E. Camelback Road. Elisa Moreno, who owns and operates the venture alongside her entire family, tells What Now Phoenix that they plan to open on New Years Eve.
Hailing from Hermosillo, Sonora, the Morenos consider themselves a foodie family, thanks to their grandmother who was an amazing cook that could replicate any recipe from a new restaurant. Their adventurous taste has brought them together to conceptualize Call Her Martina, which is finally coming to fruition after eight months of planning.
The concept of Call Her Martina is Modern Mexican cuisine “with a twist.” Moreno says that they are inspired by the culinary scene in Mexico and plan to serve dishes that are currently trending at the hottest restaurants south of the border.
The food menu is currently in development with the help of Sonoran Chef Fernando Gienesta. It will include “a little bit of everything” such as Tacos Pirata and an original guacamole recipe topped with Chicharrón. Their drink menu is coming to life with the help of bartender Dominique Jackson and mixologist Miguel Mora.
Moreno also notes the exceptional hospitality found at restaurants in Mexico, which is something they intend to replicate at Call Her Martina. The restaurant will be upscale, but approachable enough to visit for any occasion or even none at all.
They’ll initially open for lunch and dinner, but may incorporate brunches during the weekends – though nothing has been confirmed. Until we know more, all we can do is follow along on their stylish Instagram account for updates.
