Brace yourself, Goodyear, because Buc-ee’s is coming to town.

The beaver-centric mega store and travel center is much more than the sum of its parts: good food, clean bathrooms, friendly people, a shopping mecca, and a gas/charging station: Buc-ee’s has become a beloved tourist attraction.

Arizona’s first Buc-ee’s will land in Goodyear, at the southeast corner of I-10 and Bullard Avenue. Groundbreaking has taken place, with an expected opening date of summer 2026.

When it opens, the Goodyear Buc-ee’s will boast 120 gas pumps outside and 74,000 square feet of food, drink, and shopping inside. Though that footprint seems massive, the largest Buc-ee’s is in Luling, Texas and holds a Guinness Record for being the largest convenience store in the world at 75,593 square feet.

Open 24/7, Buc-ee’s offers the usual hot coffees, cold fountain drinks, and snacks — but there’s so much more: A jerky bar, freshly baked pastries, homemade fudge, and Texas-style barbecue made fresh on an ongoing basis and carved to order — with Buc-ee’s staff cheering each time a brisket arrives fresh for carving.

Buc-ee’s was founded in Texas in 1982 by Arch Aplin, who combined his childhood nickname (Beaver) with his dog’s name (Buck) to arrive at the Buc-ee’s. There are now more than 50 stores across the country, with people driving sometimes hours to get their hands on Beaver Nuggets and snag a picture with its beaver mascot.
