The Federal American Grill is a Houston-based restaurant that will establish roots in the Valley this year. It will be joining the roster at the Scottsdale 101 Shopping Center this fall, having recently secured the 7,600 square-foot space that was formerly Denny’s and The Elephant Bar before that.

Founder Matt Brice told What Now Phoenix this week that he is looking forward to taking his venture outside of Texas for the first time. “We will open as quickly as we can grow,” he says of the move, adding that it will be a careful transition with the help of operating partner Steve Parker, who will oversee operations at The Federal’s Arizona outpost.

The informal steakhouse and seafood restaurant has four locations in the Houston area, where menu items like USDA Prime Ribeye and Chilean Sea Bass are enjoyed alongside bourbons and beers. Brice says that the Phoenix location will serve their core offerings, but around 20-percent of the menu will be adapted to local flavors and trends.

Brice adds that he just signed the lease and is currently in talks with local contractors about how they will make the restaurant space their own. That said, an opening is estimated to happen by October at the latest. For more information, visit thefederalgrill.com.
