Luna Grill, the popular San Diego-based fast-casual Mediterranean chain founded in 2004, is expanding into Arizona with a new location planned for southeast Mesa, at the intersection of Ellsworth and Ray Roads.
Known for its flame-grilled dishes and fresh Mediterranean offerings, Luna Grill currently operates about 50 restaurants across California and Texas. The Mesa restaurant is expected to open later this year, marking the brand’s entry into the Arizona market. While the Mesa location is the only confirmed site at this time, there are unconfirmed reports and speculation about additional Luna Grill restaurants potentially coming to areas such as 99th Avenue and Indian School in Avondale, as well as near I-17 and Dove Valley in north Phoenix.
Luna Grill’s menu highlights include signature items such as the Garlic Bonfire Shrimp Plate and Bistro Beef Kabob, both cooked over an open flame. Guests can also choose from a variety of salads, bowls, pita wraps, and desserts, all crafted with an emphasis on health-conscious ingredients. The chain sources non-GMO oils, cage-free chicken, grass-fed beef, and sustainable salmon, with many dishes designed to accommodate gluten-free and vegan diets.
What Now Phoenix previously reported that Pepper Lunch would be opening a new location nearby on Dove Valley Road. That site will join several other tenants at the development, including Tropical Smoothie Cafe and this new Luna Grill, highlighting the growing fast-casual scene in the area. With its emphasis on fresh, responsibly sourced Mediterranean cuisine served in a casual setting, Luna Grill aims to attract diners seeking flavorful, wholesome options in Arizona’s expanding restaurant market.
